Our story

Mao-Lin Poultry Farm was founded in Miaoli by the Lin family in 1997, originally raising broilers. In 2015 Eric Lin, the second generation, came home from Australia to take over, converted the farm to a cage-free, animal-welfare layer operation with fully automated climate control, and launched the farm's own brand, Yili Egg, the following year.

In 2018 the farm was certified for animal welfare by the Environment and Animal Society of Taiwan and joined the Cage Free Alliance; in 2019 it received the Master of TAP award and was named one of Taiwan's Top 100 Premium Agricultural Products for 2020–2021.

"Hens are living beings like us, and they should be treated with respect." That is not a slogan but daily practice: perches, scratching and nesting areas, 100% plant-based feed, conveyor-belt egg collection and round-the-clock monitoring.

How we raise our hens

  • Barns: Fully enclosed, water-curtain cooled barns. A climate-control system manages temperature, humidity, carbon monoxide and ammonia levels and airflow, shielding the flock from Taiwan's sharp swings in temperature and humidity.
  • Space to move: Hens are floor-raised indoors, with perches, claw-grinding play areas, nesting areas and feeding areas designed around their natural behaviour.
  • Feed and water: 100% plant-based feed formulated by professional nutritionists for each growth stage; drinking water is tested.
  • Egg collection: Conveyor belts carry eggs straight to the collection room, reducing handling and keeping shells clean.
  • Biosecurity: Strictly controlled entry for people and vehicles, with every visitor disinfected; a separate collection room with round-the-clock fumigation; 24/7 camera monitoring inside and outside the barns.
